Today our team at The L&C Company have put together a few things that you can focus on when looking to design and furnish your dream bedroom.

Choosing a Colour-Scheme

Picking the perfect colour scheme for your bedroom is vital in ensuring that your bedroom is exactly where you want to be at the end of a long hard day at work, and that you feel comfortable and relaxed in your room. If you want to create the illusion of more space you might consider choosing a light colour scheme, filled with whites, blues and other light shades.

Or you might prefer a darker more moody colour scheme, with dark shades of blues, greys, and blacks. Ultimately your colour scheme depends on what colours you want to see when walking into your room at the end of the day, so have a play around and find some inspiration of bedrooms that you like the look of.

Planning the Layout of your Room

Once you have decided on a colour-scheme, you need to plan your layout. It may be worth drawing out your room on a paper and pad and then planning the layout this way so you can see it clearer. Remember to factor in where your windows are and where natural light will be coming in, as well as where the door is.

Start by thinking of where you would like your bed to go, and then your other furnishings. This should really help as you can visualise your room with everything in it before you have even spent any money.

Investing in Staple Furniture Pieces

Next, think about what furniture you need for your bedroom, such as your bed, a bed-side table, and a wardrobe. Large pieces of furniture tend to be the most expensive so we recommend purchasing those pieces first, as this will also help you layout your room and set the foundations. Again look for inspiration online, in other people’s bedrooms and think about what pieces you want and need. Once you have your staple furniture pieces, you can decorate and accessorise your room.

Even if you are not buying them just yet, you can put together a list of the pieces you want before you get started to make the process easier.

Adding those Finishing Touches

Now that you have your colour scheme chosen as well as your main pieces of furniture, you can look at adding some decor and personality in to your room. Think plants, mirrors, vases, rugs, the list goes on.

Make your bedroom that perfect space you have always wanted, filled with decor and things that make you feel relaxed, safe, and at home.
